Track inventory for commerce products

Turn on stock tracking for a product, set quantities and low stock thresholds, and see what needs restocking.

Commerce products can carry live stock counts. Turn on tracking, set your quantity, and the count updates automatically as staff sell, so you always know what's on the shelf and what to reorder.

Tracking is turned on product by product. Products you don't track work exactly as they do today.

Turn on tracking

  1. Go to Commerce → Manage Products and open a product (new or existing).

  2. Turn on Track inventory.

  3. Choose how to count: Shared (one count for the whole product) or Per variant (a separate count for each variant, so you can track a Small and a Large T-shirt independently).

  4. Enter your starting quantity and a Low stock threshold, then save. With per-variant tracking, each variant gets its own quantity and threshold.

Check stock levels

The products list in Manage Products has an Inventory column showing each tracked product's status and quantity:

  • In stock

  • Low stock – stock has reached your low stock threshold

  • Sold out

  • Oversold – more has been sold than you had in stock

Filter by inventory status to see everything that needs restocking in one view.

Update counts after a delivery or stock check

Click Edit Inventory and enter the new quantity. The number you enter replaces the current count.

Multiple facilities

  • Each facility keeps its own count. Sales and returns only update the facility where they happen.

  • Use the facility switcher to pick a facility, then set or edit that facility's quantity in Manage Products.

  • With All Facilities selected, tracked products show Varies by facility in the Inventory column.

FAQ

Do I have to track inventory for every product?

No. Tracking is turned on product by product. Untracked products work exactly as they do today.

Can I track sizes or colors separately?

Yes. Choose Per variant when you turn on tracking and each variant gets its own count.

How does the low stock threshold work?

Set it on the product form next to the stock quantity. Once stock reaches that number, the product shows as Low stock in Manage Products and on the kiosk.

Does each facility share one stock count?

No. Each facility keeps its own count, and sales and returns update only that facility.
